Please note: These policies are a working draft, published for transparency while they are reviewed by our legal advisors. They are based on standard practice for a Peruvian tour operator and may be updated. The exact terms that apply to your trip are always the ones confirmed in writing when you book. If anything here is unclear, please contact us before booking.
This page brings together the main policies for Machu Picchu Team, the commercial brand of MACHUPICCHU TEAM TRAVEL S.A.C (RUC 20614895722), a tour operator registered in Cusco, Peru. Our office is at Portal Nuevo 270, Plaza Regocijo, Cusco. You can reach us by email at info@machupicchuteam.com or by WhatsApp at +51 974 217 700.
Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy and only collect the information we need to answer your questions and arrange your trip. When you write to us through the contact form, by email or on WhatsApp, we may receive your name, email address, phone number and the content of your message (for example your travel dates, group size and the tours you are interested in).
We use this information only to reply to you, prepare a quote and organize your booking. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers strictly needed to deliver a tour you have booked (for example transport, lodging or entrance tickets), or where the law requires it.
We keep your information only as long as needed for these purposes. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data at any time by writing to info@machupicchuteam.com, and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
Terms & Conditions
Bookings are arranged directly with our team by WhatsApp or email. Tour prices shown on this website are guide prices in US dollars (USD), quoted "from" and per person; the final price depends on your group size, dates, services and any options you choose, and is confirmed in writing before you pay.
To confirm a reservation we normally ask for a deposit, with the balance due before or at the start of the tour as agreed when you book. The exact amount, payment method and timing are set out in your booking confirmation.
As travelers, you are responsible for arriving with valid identification and any required documents, for having appropriate travel insurance, for being in suitable physical condition for the activities you choose, and for following the guidance of our staff and local regulations during the tour.
Our role as the operator is to organize and deliver the services described in your confirmation with reasonable care. Some elements (such as train and entrance schedules, weather and conditions in the mountains) are outside our control, and itineraries may need to be adjusted for your safety; we will always aim to provide a comparable alternative where possible.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
If you need to cancel or change your trip, please tell us as early as possible. Because permits, train tickets, entrance tickets and lodging are often booked and paid in advance on your behalf, deposits and certain costs may be non-refundable, and notice periods apply — the closer to the start date, the more of the cost that may be due.
The exact cancellation and refund terms that apply to your booking are confirmed in writing when you reserve, before any payment is made, so you know where you stand. We always try to be fair and to recover whatever can reasonably be recovered.
Force majeure: for events beyond reasonable control — such as extreme weather, strikes, road or rail closures, natural events or official restrictions — we cannot be held liable for resulting changes or losses, but we will work with you to reschedule or offer the best available alternative.
Code of Conduct
We are committed to responsible and sustainable tourism, in line with the principles of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). We aim to operate in a way that protects the natural environment, respects the cultural heritage of the Andes and brings real benefit to the local communities we visit.
We treat our staff, guides, porters and local partners fairly and ethically, respecting their rights and well-being, and we expect the responsible treatment of any animals involved in our operations. We follow the rules of protected areas such as the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, including limits on group size and waste.
We ask travelers to join us in this: respect local people, customs and sacred sites, follow your guide's instructions, stay on marked trails, take all litter with you, avoid single-use plastics where possible, and leave every place as beautiful as you found it.
Accessibility
We want this website to be usable by as many people as possible. We aim to follow good accessibility practice — semantic HTML, descriptive alt text for images, readable colour contrast, clear headings and keyboard-friendly navigation — and to keep improving over time.
If you encounter any barrier using this site, or need information in another format, please tell us at info@machupicchuteam.com or on WhatsApp at +51 974 217 700 and we will do our best to help and to fix the issue.
